- This political cartoon depicts a wealthy man after losing all the money he has earned throughout his life. This wise man thought that he was set, investing all of his money in with the stock market. The man could have thought things through and only put 20% of his earnings in, but he made a quick, wise, decision what left him with nothing in his life. The squirell confronts the man asking him why he did not save any money for the future. The man said "I Did" thinking that he did but he really did not. Squirells are notorious for preparing for bad times, and is baffled that the intelligent man did not do the same.
- This well developed cartoon greatly demonstrates exactly what went on in the great depression. The lesson that should be understood is to not invest all of your money in the stock market. Only invest a small percentage of your money and wait to see how it turns out.
